We are extremely excited to welcome a new Board Member to the MTN family! We are now grooving with an absolute musical gem - a truly brilliant musician who could sing before she learned to talk: Louise Clare Marshall has been helping the next generation of music performers shine and importantly, she shares our mission.

LOUISE CLARE MARSHALL

Louise was immersed in music from her youth, singing since she was 15 months old and beginning piano lessons at five. She evolved her music career with many bands and has recorded numerous works for TV, radio and film. She tours regularly with the likes of Chaka Khan, Beverley Knight, Ed Sheeran, David Gilmour, Jools Holland and Rag & Bone Man - to name a few. Louise loves creating harmonic works that are influenced by her passion for choirs.

Known for her great sense of humour, she shares the MTN mission to help ALL people access the full range of potential career paths that exist in music, helping the next generation of music performers - and other industry professionals - shine, as she has.

In her words, ”I love the challenge of collaborating with new projects and working alongside some amazing women that will not only be a shining beacon for the future, but will guide one another onward to Moving The Needle into the right groove.”

BACK TO IN-PERSON EVENTS

We were delighted to attend Getahead Festival on 6th August, where we hosted our first ‘Moving The Needle 10-Minute Mentoring Drop-In Sessions’ for young women from all ethnicities, backgrounds and personalities hoping to get into the UK music industry, and for women who would like to reach their full potential in their career. 

Our mentoring experts included Silvia Montello, Karen Emanuel, Julie Weir and Siofra McComb who were there to support with all types of question - from career advice, industry insights, CV feedback and interview/application prep.

We are also buzzing to be a part of Brighton Music Conference this year - one of the UK’s most important electronic music conferences and networking events. We look forward to discussing how to future-proof the electronic music industry, which of course requires a more diverse and equal workforce and environment. 

Our panel is titled ‘Backstage in the Music Industry – the jobs you may NOT know about...’ It will take place at 12:30pm on Thursday 23rd September, and will be moderated by our board member, Silvia Montello, Head of Operations at Audio Network and Co-Founder/Director at #remarQabl.

The speakers will include other board members:

Karen Emanuel (CEO of Key Production Group)

Rachel Barton (CEO of We Are Grape)

Sara Al Hamad (Paralegal & Business Affairs Manager at AIM, the Association of Independent Music).
