If you’re a fan of early 2000s Pop, chances are you will love Izzi De-Rosa. The self-confessed “Sass-pot” and “Brat” is one to watch, throwing back to a uniquely fierce sound of Pop. Dubbed “Queen of Brat Pop” by Notion, Izzi’s sound favours the Y2K era-defining aesthetic. The North London native initially studied Philosophy at the University of Leeds, before scrambling to transition to music after two weeks on a masters course, where she became deeply embedded in the Leeds music scene as part of a collective of artists. Relocating back home when the pandemic struck, she began to find her voice, her sound, and define her aesthetic.
Her debut track “Love & Roulette” went viral on TikTok after she posted a clip of her showing the song to her crush - who was the subject of the verse. The song quickly climbed to the Top 10 on iTunes and Viral 50 chart on Spotify soon after.
Much like its predecessor, Izzi’s new single “I Don’t Care” - a bouncy, sing-at-the-top-of-your- lungs anthem for those who’d rather party on their own in their tracksuits - also made noise on TikTok ahead of its release, resulting in over 15 million views to date and a #2 spot on TikTok’s New Music playlist.
